I can only echo the other comments here. I took a while to get around to listening to this episode, but it was really worth its wait in gold :-|

Richard Bellis comes across not only as intelligent and experienced but also as a warm and friendly person: he was a great guest to have on the show and I enjoyed every minute. I have to catch up on all the NAMM stuff now – how did I get this far out of date? I mustn’t let that happen again…

Just got around to listening to this podcast, great stuff, Richard Bellis is a very lucid and insightful guest. Re Backblaze, I just found another backup solution that looks interesting designed specifically for pro audio use called Gobbler… Its in beta and looks like it has some limitations but I was wondering if any of you guys have played around with it?

I just finished listening to this episode while de-catfur-ing a too large pile of dirty cloths, and I think I have never enjoyed a podcast this much before. All discussed subjects were so interesting and guest star Richard’s insights and humor were simply delicious icing on the cake.

    Enjoy NAMM everybody!

Need more podcast! (and not just because I’ve only worked through half of my pile yet)

Hey Kej! Stay tuned for a “special edition” podcast coming soon! ;-) (And check out the NAMM Show video series for more uses of your incredible SCOREcast theme song! http://ow.ly/3GGeU)

Gosh I loved this episode! Some really great reminders about what our job is, and what’s at the center of it (it’s the relationships, stupid). Thanks!

    • http://deaneogden.com Deane Ogden

You nailed it, Dean. It’s all about relationships. Thanks for listening and chiming in with this! ;-)

    • Michael Wilson

ditto. A great discussion with insight & clarity and a generous helping of priority.

Wow, what a great podcast to kick off the new year. Thanks so much to Richard Bellis for his participation. It was great hearing all of his insights on re-sophistication and some further clarification about the union issues. Those were some fantastic top picks too! I actually hadn’t heard about any of them myself, so it was really useful for me.

Just a side note on sample-library stuff, while I agree our community here is so much more than just tech talk, I think it would be helpful for those of us considering the purchase of sample libraries to add to our ever-growing arsenals to get some high-level review and comparison of the software that is driving industry standards. While I know there are plenty of forum discussions on various websites about these things, if the articles on ScoreCast prove anything, it’s that our contributors are some of the most eloquent and thought-provoking members of the media composing community world-wide. So who better to really say the things other composers need to hear about the tools that are available out there?

Keep up the great work you guys!

So glad you dug the episode, David!

We are working on some “head-to-head” software showdowns for future episodes, as well as some interviews with developers that will give a lot more insight than the average review. We’ll keep you posted!

Yup, cubase has got a bit bridge, but the bridging app of choice is JBridge and/or VE Pro. We’ve got unlimited RAM inside 32-bit cubase now. No 64-bit Cubase necessary.

    • Michael Wilson

And can I add, that Cubase / VE Pro is a match made in heaven; being that other sequencers have to wrap (usually AU) the VST plugin. Due to the AU technical limitations, it’s not nearly as nice an experience, IMHO.

      • http://www.twelvescore.com/ Mike Torr

I have to agree with that Michael. I’m using VE Pro with Cubase too, and it works really well. Not only for hosting but also for creating an autonomous VE Pro template that can be moved to other machines relatively simply, which makes transitioning to slave boxes easier. It’s a step I’m very glad I took.
